Delivery and returns

At the Guardian Bookshop, we offer fast deliveries in 100% recyclable packaging, with free UK P&P on online orders over £25. 

All UK deliveries are sent via Royal Mail, with standard and premium options available. Please consult the latest information provided by Royal Mail's International Incident Bulletin.

 

UK standard delivery

  • In-stock items sent using standard delivery should arrive within 3-5 working days for UK orders 

  • Free UK P&P on online orders over £25 

  • There is a £2.99 charge for orders under £25 

  • All phone orders will incur a minimum £2.99 delivery charge 

UK premium delivery 

  • In-stock items sent using premium delivery should arrive the next working day for UK orders placed by 2pm

  • There is a £3.99 charge for all premium orders 

  • Next-day delivery excludes unpublished books or products that have been pre-ordered

  • Next-day delivery excludes Shelf Improvement monthly book subscriptions, where each package is delivered at the start of each month. See our Shelf Improvement FAQ page for more information 

International deliveries

  • All international orders are subject to additional charges based on delivery location and product availability

  • Costs for international shipments are calculated at checkout. Please note: international shipping costs change regularly. Some estimated shipping fees for up to 1kg of books are as follows: Ireland £8, France £7.50, USA/Canada  £15, Australia and New Zealand £16.50, Hong Kong £25

  • For accurate shipment costs for international deliveries, please add your products to your basket and check the costs at checkout

Which countries do you ship to?

  • We can ship to most countries in the world. If you can’t see a delivery cost after entering your shipping country at checkout then please email us at help@guardianbookshop.com or call 020 3176 3837 

 Are there any additional charges for customs or VAT?

  • For orders delivered to the EU, tax is automatically applied at checkout and goods will be delivered with duty paid 

  • Orders delivered outside of the EU are sent duty unpaid, and recipients may be liable for any local duties, customs or taxes 

My order contains more than one item. When will they be delivered? 

  • If all items in your order are in stock and already published, they will arrive in a single delivery

  • If your order contains more than one item, we may split the deliveries, so we can send each item as soon as it's ready, at no extra cost to you

  • Note that orders for prints, postcards, posters, and T-shirts may arrive separately

Can items in my order be delivered to multiple addresses?

  • No, orders can only be delivered to one address

  • You’ll need to place separate orders for each item that needs to be delivered to a different address 

 How do I track my order?

  • Customers with an account can view the status of their order in the Orders section of their Account page. When an order has been shipped, the tracking information will appear in this section 

  • UK customers who entered a mobile number at checkout will receive a text notification when Royal Mail has received their order, with an expected delivery date and time

My order hasn’t arrived. How can I get help? 

I’d like to return a book or product. How can I do that?

  • Unwanted products will be returned with the shipping cost paid by the customer

  • Refunds will be made upon receipt of the returned items 

My order is damaged or incorrect. What should I do?

My order is a gift. Can you remove invoices?

  • All Guardian Bookshop orders arrive with a printed invoice – no prices are shown on the invoices. Orders are dispatched with a delivery note including delivery address, shipment items and the Guardian Bookshop information only.
